Imagination and creativity actually form the basis of the supernatural. A glance at the ministry of Jesus makes this clear. There was wonderful creativity behind many of his miracles.
- He turned water into wine (John 2:1-11).
- He fed 5,000 people from five bread rolls and two fish (John 6:1-13).
- He healed a blind man by coating his eyelids with mud (John 9:1-41).
- He raised Lazarus from the dead by his word (John 11:1-44).
- He walked on the water of Galilee (John 6:16-24).
- He restored a withered arm (Mark 3:16).
- He gave strength to a paralytic (Matthew 9: l-8).
- He calmed a storm (Mark 4:35-41).
- He healed a deaf and dumb man by his creative touch (Mark 7:31-37).
- He renewed the rotting skin of a leper (Matthew 8:l-4).
All these involved a free imagination and a spirit of creativity–coupled, of course, with the faith that they could be done!
It is clear that another essential ingredient of creativity is faith. If miracles are going to happen, our faith must also be developed. Jesus clearly said, ‘Have faith in God’ (Mark 11:22).
To have a miracle-working faith we must believe in a miracle-working God.
